Different Types Of Health Insurance Plans
Ashland Heights Health Insurance Plans That Meet Your Needs
Health Maintenance Organization
(HMO) Insurance
An HMO is a network of specific doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers who provide care and are paid through your health insurance policy. Costs are reduced when you choose a doctor within the HMO network, and seeing a specialist requires a referral.
Preferred Provider Organization
(PPO) Insurance
With a PPO, you have the flexibility to see a doctor within your specific network, similar to an HMO. However, costs are higher if the doctor is out of network, and your monthly premiums are higher too. You will not need a referral to see a specialist.
Point Of Service (POS)
Insurance Plans
A Point of Service plan is similar to an HMO, where your costs will be greatly reduced if you keep your medical care within the specified network. Seeing a specialist will require a referral. Typically, a POS is considered a blend of HMO and PPO policies.
Exclusive Provider Organization
(EPO) Insurance
With EPO insurance, your care will be covered if you visit a doctor or hospital within your policy’s network, with the exception of emergencies. The premiums are low, but you will typically end up paying more out of pocket before your coverage kicks in.
Obamacare Affordable
Care Act Plans
President Obama enacted Obamacare in 2010, making healthcare more affordable to all with lower premiums overall. Let our Ashland Heights insurance company help you understand the options available to you and find the best plan under Obamacare for your needs and budget.
Medicare Parts A, B, C & D
Program Enrollment
Each aspect of Medicare covers a different facet of care. Part A covers inpatient hospital care. Part B covers outpatient medical care. Part C offers a variety of Medicare benefits, and Part D offers coverage for prescription drugs. Our Ashland Heights Medicare agents can help you understand!

“When I needed to find a good Medicare supplement program Lynn and his crew were recommended to me by my business insurance provider. Lynn personally took the time to prepare a number of options, then explained each one to me, and how it would work in tandem with Medicare. He has also assisted several of my friends and coworkers since then. I am proud to recommend him.”

IRS Rules & Guidelines For Employers Regarding Health Insurance Plans
The IRS wanted to consider making additional precise rules and instructions for employers. The intent of these restrictions was to address the impact of employers contributing to employees’ decision to obtain alternate health insurance. The question the IRS posed to itself is:
“What are the consequences to the employer if the employer does not establish a health insurance plan for its own employees, but reimburses those employees for premiums they pay for health insurance (either through a qualified health plan in the marketplace or outside the marketplace)?”
Wraparound Coverage
“Wraparound coverage”, a form of health coverage that is not subjected to the ACA rules that employers may help employees obtain starting in 2015 without being fined, is another option. This is basic health insurance that can be used to fill in the gaps of a regular health plan that meets ACA standards. However, the cost of providing this coverage to your staff cannot exceed 15% of the basic health plan that your employees are already covered under.
If you still want to get away from your staff and their health insurance coverage, you may avoid the “employer payment plan” penalties by simply giving them a raise large enough to cover the cost of their benefits to the degree that is desired and feasible. Keep in mind that you will be subject to higher payroll taxes, and since this income is taxable to employees, the amount of the raise they’ll have available to purchase health coverage will be reduced by their increased tax burden. Workers might also forget why they were paid more in the first place, and start to consider themselves employees of a firm that does not respect its employees enough to provide health benefits.
Finally, if you are large enough to be affected by the ACA’s employer mandate, you won’t be able to get out of paying the penalty for failing to offer health coverage.
